We're pleased to be taking part in Summer of Sport 2026.
With support from the Summer of Sport programme, we'll be offering a range of activities for young people, including sailing, paddlesports and outdoor adventures. The funding will help us provide more opportunities for young people to get active, learn new skills and enjoy everything that Scouting on the Black Isle has to offer.
Keep an eye on this page throughout the summer as we share photographs and updates from our activities.
As part of Summer of Sport 2026, 1st Avoch Sea Scouts will be helping to deliver water-based activities at Chanonry Sailing Club's annual Fun Day on Saturday 15 August.
As a sponsored Scout Group of Chanonry Sailing Club, we're delighted to support this event and encourage more young people to get involved in sailing and other water sports.
The event will take place from 12:00pm until 4:00pm and will provide opportunities to try activities including sailing, rowing and paddleboarding. An open water swim event will also be taking place during the day. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
If you've ever wanted to have a go at sailing or experience life on the water, this is a fantastic opportunity to come along, meet local volunteers and discover what's available on your doorstep.

11 July 2026
Fifteen young people enjoyed a fantastic day on the Inner Moray Firth as part of our Summer of Sport activities.
The day provided an opportunity for participants to experience both sailing and powerboating, developing their confidence on the water while learning new skills in a safe and enjoyable environment. Favourable conditions allowed everyone plenty of time afloat, with young people taking an active role throughout the sessions.
After the boating activities, the group came ashore for refreshments and a selection of nautical-themed games. The afternoon provided a great opportunity to relax, make new friends and learn more about life on and around the water.
The event was a great success and highlighted the value of giving young people the chance to experience adventure, teamwork and fun through water-based activities. We look forward to welcoming even more young people to future Summer of Sport events.
